New author Jilly Fry enjoys nothing more than delving into the past.
The retired administrator devours the classics, peruses antique shops whenever she can, and spends many an hour reeling
through the historical back issues of newspapers.
It’s hardly a surprise that Jilly’s debut novel, Mrs Wynter Investigates, is set in the murky back lanes of Victorian
London.
What is surprising, is that it has taken until she’s in her 60s to finally publish her debut novel.
Jilly won a national short story competition when she was still a schoolgirl, and even had her poetry recited on BBC
radio.
She has also regularly scripted murder mysteries for local groups to perform in her native Staffordshire, GB.
Inspired by authors such as Jane Austen, Agatha Christie and Anne Perry, Jilly weaved together a fascinating and highly
enjoyable 2023 debut, which is based on a real life unsolved mysterious death from the 1880s.
